This site has been set up for the decendents of John and Nancy (Baird) Akerman to share and update information about our ancestors.
John and Nancy migrated to Morgan Co. Ohio, from the Harrisburg Pennsylvia area in 1815. It is said that they had 4 children. Mariah, William, Jane and John. Of these children we have extensive knowledge of William (our line) some information on Mariah and Jane and absolutly no informatin on John.
The Topics listed on the left represent the children of William and Kaziah. When posting an article please insure that you post it under the correct topic.
I have many emails and items that I have found during my research and will post them in the appropiate areas. As new articles are posted they will first be displayed on this page but once they drop off of the Homepage you can still find them in their particular topic.

The 2011 Family Reunion is now behind us. Fun was had by all bellies were filled. There was some good food at the potluck. The reunion opened with a prayer by Duane Ackerman. He then asked all veterans to stand then put us all on the spot by having us all repeat the Oath of Enlistment. (I wonder if we're all back in the Military now) Duane then with the wireless microphone walked around and had family members to tell memorable stories. Awards were given for the family who came the furthest, oldest, youngest and longest married couple. We then broke for the Family Photo.

We currently have just over 30 Recipes for our Recipe Book. That is not enough! So please submit your recipe so we can get this book done. You can either send me an email or go ahead and add it to our Wiki in the menu above.
We still need Soups, Salads and Drinks. And we could use some more Appetizers and of course anything that would fit in the Other category.

The Mariah J Pagett that is listed in the Federal 1850 census of Carroll County Missouri is "Mariah J Walker". She is the first child of John Walker and Jane C. Pagett(my great grandparents)...Mariah is at the bottom of the list of family members which included a brother to Jane C.Pagett and Thomas Short( I do not know who Thomas is and why he was on the census with the Walkers...Mariah J Walker married Elisah Johnson and are on the 1880 census in Fresno, California.. My great grandfather, John, is a son to Joel Walker and Mariah Ackerman...Joel was born in New York in 1804, but I have no idea who his parents were and how and when he migrated to Ohio... Thank you very much, George L.Walker
